On Tuesday 13th September 2016 Charles & Ron showed their new collection during New York Fashion Week. The show part of the Art Hearts Fashion Week supported by Aids Health Care was held at the Neo Gothic NYC landmark the Angel Orensanz Foundation. The venue was a favourite of the late Alexander McQueen and also the venue for Sarah Jessica Parker’s wedding.

Charles & Ron casted a diverse selection of models and also some models that star in the Chinese TV show; I Super Model. Which for its first season reached views of over 280 million.

It’s no secret that Charles & Ron are in love. In love with the Mediterranean and in love with Maltese culture and heritage. The Spring/Summer 2017 collection is no exception and features several different Maltese cultural, architectural and natural icons.

The colour palette for this season was based on primary happy colours, blue, green, red and touch of yellow. These are the colours that you see on traditional Maltese wooden balconies. The bright colours are paired and toned down with C&R staples; black and white.

The graphic prints that have become a signature, feature a mix of wrought iron inspired patterns, Maltese Lace, balconies, stripes and also indigenous Maltese Flora. Charles & Ron realise the importance of preserving architectural but also natural heritage, like Malta’s national flower the Maltese Centaury which is critically endangered and is also known as Rock Flower.

Besides the graphic prints on silk and cotton fabrics, the collection also features elaborate hand beaded tulle, Swarovski and stud embellished Suede and handmade silk flowers. C&R fly the Maltese flag with pride and this season sees a red and white gross grain ribbon appear as decoration on several styles in the collection.

The handcrafted leather bags feature this season’s graphic prints and colors and are also updated with a new Charles & Ron lock, studs and other branded hardware.

The Models once again wore shoes by top shoe designer Manolo Blahnik, and their look was completed with handcrafted Maltese filigree jewelry.
